Raipur, 18 March: The process of filing nomination papers for Bastar Lok Sabha constituency will begin with issuance of notification for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections on March 18, said Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Subrat Sahoo.
Lok Sabha elections in Chhattisgarh will be held in three phases. Nomination papers can be filed by the candidates from 11 am to 3 pm on all working days except government holidays till March 25, 2019 for first phase of election.
Scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on March 26. Nomination papers can be withdrawn till March 28.
Voters from eight assembly segments in five districts will exercise their franchise on April 11, 2019 in first phase.
The CEO Sahoo said that elaborate arrangements were made for polling under first phase. About 13,61,146 voters in Bastar Lok Sabha constituency can exercise their franchise. The total number of voters includes 7,12,259 women, 6,59,824 men and 49 third gender.
Total 1878 polling centres have been set up to ensure cent percent polling.
The notification for second phase of Lok Sabha elections will be issued on Tuesday, March 19, 2019.
The polling under 2nd phase will be held on April 18 in Kanker, Mahasamund and Rajnandgaon Lok Sabha constituencies. The notification for the third phase of election will be issued on March 28. The polling under 3rd phase will be held in remaining seven Lok Sabha seats of Chhattisgarh on April 23 in Raipur, Bilaspur, Raigarh, Korba, Janjgir, Durg and Sarguja. (UNI)
