Puducherry, May 30 : Confederation of Indian Industry(CII) Puducherry on Saturday urged Chief Minister V Narayanasamy to defer the power tariff hike proposed by JERC for 2020- 21. According to a CII release here, a CII team led by Mr M Sankarnarayanan, Chairman, CII Puducherry met Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Friday and briefed him on the various initiatives taken by CII in the socio-economic front especially in the context of Covid-19.
He was also requested to consider waiving the fixed charges for a period of 3 months. The increase in electricity tariff would impact the competitiveness of industry in the State especially in the current difficult situation, Mr Sankarnarayanan added. The CII Puducherry Chairman said the MSMEs are already facing the slowdown due to the lockdown and any upward revision of electricity tariff would further impact the growth of the MSME sector which contributes substantially to the economic growth and employment generation in the state.
