Hyderabad, May 4: All India Bank Employees' Association (AIBEA) on Monday asked the State Level Banker' Committee (SLBC) in Maharahstra to clearly spell out the working hours in bank branches due to COVID-19 pandemic spreading rapidly in that state.
In a letter to SLBC, Maharashtra convener NS Deshpande, a copy of which marked to heads of banks and Secretary of the Department of Financial Services of the Ministry of Finance and the RBI Deputy Governor, AIBEA general secretary Ch Venkatachalam said expecting the employees to work for the full day is not fair because returning home is equally an ordeal. Further in the normal days, he said, there was no full work in all the branches.
Hence, managements have to be flexible and lenient in fixing working hours. This will enable more staff to attend office, he added. Similarly, the concept of 50 per cent of staff to work in branch by rotation and remaining staff to work from home is very important since, if all the employees work in the branch every day, even if one of them get infected, the whole branch will get closed and disrupted. Hence SLBC should clearly spell out in this regard, Venkatachalam said.(UNI)
