Gandhidham, Nov 18: Alliance Air, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Air India, from Monday added the major port city of Gujarat, Kandla to its list of destinations.
Direct flight operations from Ahmedabad to Kandla and back began on Monday, which are direct flights connecting the two cities from Monday to Friday. This is an RCS route, under the UDAN scheme.
An Air India Spokesperson said that Flight 9I 873 would start from Ahmedabad at 10.05am and arrive in Kandla at 11.10am. Flight 9I 874 departs from Kandla at 1140 hrs and arrives in Ahmedabad at 1245 hrs.
Alliance Air currently connects 54 destinations within India, with 117 departures per day. Kandla is the 55th addition to the list of stations to Alliance Air's ambit.The airline has deployed 70 seater aircraft on these sectors.
This flight is very important from a business point of view as Kandla is a major hub for the import and export industry. It takes one and a half days to travel to Kandla from Nashik by road.
This flight provides onward connectivity from Kandla to Nashik and Hyderabad via Ahmedabad, reducing the travel time significantly.
This flight will also boost tourism to Dwarka in Gujarat as the latter is near Kandla and the tourists can now reach swiftly, instead of travelling for 350 km by road.
Gandhidham, where the ashes of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi were submerged, is just 13 km away from Kandla.
''The one-way Ahmedabad Kandla Fares starts @ INR 1300, plus applicable government taxes,'' he said. (UNI)
