McDonald’s fires CEO Steve Easterbrook for violating policy

New York, Nov 4: Fast-food giant McDonald's on Sunday announced that its president and CEO Steve Easterbrook was forced out after violating company policy by engaging in a 'consensual relationship with an employee'.

Chris Kempczinski, the president of McDonald's USA, replaced Easterbrook. Mr Kempczinski was also elected as the board of directors. "Kempczinski succeeds Steve Easterbrook, who has separated from the Company following the Board's determination that he violated company policy and demonstrated poor judgment involving a recent consensual relationship with an employee," the company said in a statement.
In an email to staff, Mr Easterbrook acknowledged the relationship and said it was a mistake. "Given the values of the company, I agree with the board that it is time for me to move on,” Easterbrook said in the email, The Guardian reported. The company announced that Joe Erlinger, President of International Operated Markets, as new President of McDonald's US.
