Commercial vehicle major Ashok Leyland on Monday showcased its new Bharat Stage (BS) VI trucks and buses whose production will start from January 2020.
Ashok Leyland has got the certificates, confirming compliance to BS-VI emission standard, from Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). It is the first original equipment manufacturer in India to meet the BS-VI emission norms across the full range of heavy duty trucks (GVW of 16.2T and above).
The company has come out with a mid-NOx technology for BS-VI vehicles. Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emission is a problem faced by all diesel engines. The new technology will reduce the emission to acceptable level.
Company Chairman Dheeraj G Hinduja in a press release said the new heavy duty trucks with Bharat Standard VI emission norms with the new Modular Vehicle Platform. The company is also looking at export market.
The new platform will have left hand versions to cater to overseas markets. The company plans to enter the Russian commercial vehicle market in the next 12 months. It is also looking at other markets like Indonesia and Malaysia.
