New Delhi, Aug 19 : US-based super luxury motorcycle maker Indian Motorcycle on Monday launched its new model FTR 1200 S and the FTR 1200 S Race Replica in the country.
While the cost of FTR 1200 S has been set at Rs 15.99 lakh, the FTR 1200 S Race Replica is priced at Rs 17.99 lakh, Pankaj Dubey, MD at Polaris India, which owns Indian Motorcycle brand told media here.
"Our vision from the beginning was to be more than a traditional American V-twin brand. We continually seek to broaden Indian Motorcycle’s reach to a wider range of riders, and FTR represents a significant step forward in that strategy. With the launch of FTR™ 1200 S and FTR™ 1200 S Race Replica we now have a stylish motorcycle which has the DNA of flat track racing and is designed for the street," Mr Dubey said.
Bollywood star R Madhavan, known for his love for the motorcycles, was present on the occasion.
The company, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Polaris Industries, also announced a tie-up with Orix India to offer its models on lease.
Based on the FTR 750 racing motorcycle, the FTR 1200 S and the FTR 1200 S Race Replica comes with round headlamp and tear-drop shaped fuel tank. The bike also features a performance enhancing Akrpovic exhaust system. The two motorcycles has a 19-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel with dual-sport tyres.
The FTR 1200 S and the FTR 1200 S Race Replica has a six-axis IMU and Bosch stability control, three riding modes, wheelie control, and a stability program that also takes into account the lean angle. The FTR series comes equipped with a new liquid-cooled 1,203cc V-twin engine that churns out 120 bhp and 112.5 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
The colours available are black, silver/black, red/grey, and Race Replica. The FTR 1200 S and FTR 1200 S Race Replica compete with the BMW R NineT Scrambler and the Ducati Scrambler 1100.(UNI)
