Hyderabad, Aug 6: Italian Motorcycle maker Benelli, owned by China’s Qjian Jiang Group, will roll out lower capacity of 250 cc bikes first time in India by this year end from its manufacturing unit in Hyderabad.
The operating unit was manufacutured by Mahavir Group in India through Adishwar Auto Ride India (AAR), Benelli Adiswar Auto Ride India's Managing Director Vikas Jhabakh said here on Monday.

Talking to reporters after launching Leoncio 500 cc bike, priced at Rs 4.79 lakh (ex-showroom, India), here, Vikas said the company will roll out 2-3 bikes including lower capacity 250 cc bike by this year end and between 12-13 bikes including lower capacity by 2020.

The current capacity of the existing CKD (Completely Knocked Down) Assembly plant in Hyderabad was 40,000 units per annum and we are also planning to set up another plant in Telangana if the current capacity was overloaded, he said so far, we have invested Rs 40 crore.

Till date, we have released five models in Indian market and with this new launch, six models have been released, Vikas said the new model Leoncio, which is available in two colours – red and Steel Gray, is more affordable and available at all the existing 19 dealerships in 18 cities in India without any waiting time period.

Benelli offering 5-year unlimited kilometer warranty, he said the new model can be booked through online ‘’ for Rs 10,000 (refundable) or at nearest Benelli India Dealership, he said that we also planning to set up 15 more dealerships in India in the next few months.

We have sold 1000 units of five models across India so far and ( from January to July’19) and expected to be double the units by the end of December 2019 with this new launch, he informed.

With the Indian motorcycle market gearing up for new segments and superbikes witnessing a progressive growth in the last years, we have taken a strategic decision to bring in some of the globally renowned Benelli products into the Indian market, Mr Vikas said.

We are building a strong customer based and network across India and we are confident in driving sales and register a positive growth in the coming years, he added.
