Vijayawada, July 30 : State-owned telecommunications Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on Tuesday launched its 4G services in Vijayawada city.
BSNL Chief General Manager, A P Rao formally launched the 4G services in the BSNL office. Speaking on the occasion, he said 350 4G towers are working in Andhra Pradesh Circle and in addition to this, 150 4G towers would be erected soon. As of now, only 500 towers were launched altogether in Andhra Pradesh, Vijayawada city, Guntur, Chittoor, Srikakulam Vizianagaram and Nuzvidu and other stations. Mr Rao said that 800 more towers would be set up i coming days.
Andhra Pradesh Circle of BSNL is spending Rs 200 crore in the current financial year to modernise and expand the mobile services. By the end of December 2019, 4G services would be available progressively in all the major towns across the State.
The BSNL has 2,780 3G towers and 4,244 2G towers in the state. Mr Rao said that the BSNL Andhra circle added nearly 3.33 lakh mobile customers during the current year 2019-20 and the data traffic per day in the network is 122.26 TB.
During the current year, BSNL has provided 17,171 broadband connections with 4,83,803 landline base in the state. Later, the Chief General Manager felicitated two employees P Raju and N Srinbivas for being selected for best officers award. (UNI)
