Mysuru, July 10 : The City of Palaces Mysuru will get air link to Hyderabad, Kochi and Goa from July 19. The City already has flight service to Chennai.
According to BJP Lok Sabha member Pratap Simha's office here, Alliance Air, a subsidiary of Air India, will operate an ATR 72 aircraft between Mysuru-Hyderabad, Kochi and Goa. Kochi route figures among the five new cities to be connected with Mysuru under the third round of UDAN, the Center’s Regional Air Connectivity scheme.
However, sources at the airport said the flight will originate from Hyderabad and arrive in Mysuru, before proceeding to Kochi. On its return, the flight will make a stop-over at Mysuru before flying to Hyderabad. Hence, the flight will be connected to Mysuru as well as Hyderabad.
The service will operate to Kochi on all days of the week except Tuesday, when it will operate only between Mysuru and Hyderabad, airport officials said. Flight services from Mysuru to Bengaluru had been launched several times only to be cancelled due to complaints of poor passenger traffic. But, ever since the Mysuru airport resumed air operations to Chennai in 2017, flight operations turned viable.
The air-linking of Mysuru with Kochi and Hyderabad is expected to give a boost to not only Mysuru’s tourism, but also industries by attracting investment. (UNI)
