Visakhapatnam, Mar 30: Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd, also known as Vizag Steel Plant, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) PK Rath, on Saturday inaugurated the state-of-the art Central Dispatch Yard (CDY), a unique project, built at a cost of Rs 320 crores in a sprawling 200 acres inside the plant premises.
The project facilitates improvement in logistics and smooth dispatch of VSP products through road and rail to various customers and marketing stockyards of RINL spread across the country from a single location.
Speaking on the occasion, Rath said that logistics play a vital role in strengthening the marketing network of RINL-VSP as the volumes increased due to completion of expansion and modernisation of the plant.
He further said that it is a dream project of RINL and congratulated the agencies involved and commercial wing for early completion of the project.
The new Yard would facilitate improvement in logistics in a smooth manner at a single location with rake retention time coming down significantly.
On the occasion, the CMD flagged off the road dispatch of various products of RINL.
He also released dispatch orders to various customers to mark the occasion.
Director (Commercial) P Raychaudhury, KC Das, Director (Personnel), VV Venugopal Rao, Director (Finance), Executive Directors, senior officials from Marketing and plant were present on the occasion. (UNI)
