Sensex touches 36,064, up by 347 points

Mumbai, Nov 29: The BSE Sensex on Thursday touched the 36K level to 36,064, spurting by 347 points in opening trade on positive trend in other Asian market.

Even, dovish comments from US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell boosted the investors' sentiment. Short-covering of bets on the last session of November futures and options (F&O) derivatives series kept the market firm.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too advanced by 89.45points to 10,818.30. The Sensex registered intra day high and low at 36,122.99 and 35,946.24 points, respectively.

The Nifty recorded intra day high and low at 10,836.15 and 10,782.35, respectively. The sectoral indices like Materials, FMCG, Finance, IT and Bankex kept the market strong in early trade.

The gainers were Bajaj Auto by 2.45 per cent to Rs 2666.95, M & M by 2.44 per cent to Rs 766.60, Hind Unilever by 2.22 per cent to Rs 1769.20 and VEDL by 2.15 per cent to Rs 197.10.

The losers were Yes Bank by 8.49 per cent to Rs 148, Coal India by 2.04 per cent to Rs 242.80, ONGC by 1.86 per cent to Rs 140 and NTPC by 1.81 per cent to Rs 140.90. (UNI)
