Mumbai, Oct 16: The benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Tuesday advanced by 270 points to 35,135.50 on positive global cues.
The Nifty rose by 57 points to 10,569.50. The BSE sensex registered intra day high and low at 35,215.79 and 34,913.06 respectively. The equity market increased as investors widened their positions ahead of quarterly earnings from some bluechip companies.
Moreover, continuous buying by domestic financial institutions also supported the trading sentiment. The sectoral indices led by auto, realty, consumer durables, capital goods and bankex trading higher by up to 1.15 per cent.
The gainers were M & M by 3.13 pc to Rs 772, ONGC by 2.31 pc to Rs 163.70, Axis Bank by 2.22 pc to Rs 588.65, ICICI Bank by 2.17 pc to Rs 320 and IndusBank by 2.16 pc to Rs 1662. UNI
