Hyderabad, Oct 10: The Secretary for Ministry of Civil Aviation Rajiv Nayan Choubey has formally inaugurated the Interim International Departures Terminal equipped with new technologies at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here on Wednesday.
The terminal which was inaugurated in the presence of Telangana government Chief Secretary Shailendra Kumar Joshi will commence its operations from October 23. It has been designed to cater to the continued growth in 'pax traffic' - a travel industry term for passengers.
The existing Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) facility expands to double the present working capacity. The interim terminal is equipped with a host of new technologies including India's first ever remote hand baggage screening facility.
The terminal is an exclusive concourse to smoothly handle check-in, security, immigration, customs processes for international passengers departing from here. Coinciding with the opening of the new Interim terminal, the Hyderabad Duty Free store situated at the departure level has been relocated and upgraded to offer an enhanced shopping experience to the passengers.
The inauguration of the terminal was also graced by GMR Group (Airports) Business Chairman GBS Raju and GHIAL CEO SGK Kishore. (UNI)
