Hyderabad, Aug 29 : Hyderabad-based Gemini Edibles and Fats India (GEF), a refined sunflower oil company is planning to double its capacity to 50,000 tonnes a month from the current capacity of 25,000 tonnes, in the next two-years.
The Company will spend about Rs 750 crore for setting up of two processing units in Tamil and Odisha with a capacity of 1,100 tonnes a day each , besides expansion of the capacity at the existing plant in Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh to 1500 tonnes from the present 400 tonnes a day, the company Managing Director Pradeep Chowdhry told reporters on the sidelines of the launching of specially designed one Ltr SKU ( stock keeping unit) Freedom Refined sunflower oil here on Wednesday. The Kakinada expansion plant will come into operation by March, 2019, he said the two new plants will come up in next 2 years.
Expecting to reach Rs 5,000 crore turnover in this fiscal against Rs 4,000 crore in previous year, Pradeep said GEF has refineries at Krishnapatnam (near Nellore) and Kakinada, where it has capacity of 1,100 tonnes and 400 tonnes a day respectively.
we are No.1 in Sunflower oil category in the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, he claimed and said that this segment , Our market share in Andhra Pradesh was 55 per cent followed by Odisha ( 48%) and Telangana ( 36%), he said. Of the 2.2 million tonnes of edible oil market size annually, packaged sunflower oil comprises 1.8 million tonnes,he added. (UNI)
