The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has welcomed the GST Council decision to award cash back for using BHIM and RuPay Digital Payment system on purchases.
The CAIT however has urged the GST Council to prefer Bharat QR as a digital payment system over the RuPay as it was not working properly.
In a joint statement CAIT National President BC Bhartia and Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said that the adoption of RuPay Cards have an extremely high online failure rate which leads to a bad consumer experience.
Business is largely still Cash on Delivery or cheque based play in India. The policy should push to create awareness on building confidence in digital payment platforms, the statement said.
CAIT said that for merchants and consumers to benefit alike, BharatQR standards should be adopted and encouraged.
Bharat QR was launched as a low cost acceptance product in February 2017 as an interoperable QR code (Mastercard, Visa, Amex, and NPCI). Bharat QR was identified as the most scalable and optimum solution for the need of micro merchants in India. It came at the right time post demonetisation to accelerate the pace of Acceptance deployment. (UNI)
