The Benchmark Index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) jumped 554.12 points or 1.61 percent to settle at 34,969.70 in the week under review on upbeat global cues. Continuous buying by domestic institutional investors also boosted sentiment, broker added. NSE Nifty rose by 128.25 points or 1.21 percent to settle at 10,692.30.
Stocks logged gains in four out of five trading days. The Sensex and the Nifty, both, settled at their highest closing level in 12 weeks. BSE Mid-Cap rose 118.24 points or 0.70 per cent to settle at 16,917.18. BSE Small-Cap rose 61.93 points or 0.34 per cent to settle at 18,239.96, both these indices under performed the Sensex.
