Patna, May 12: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday suggested the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to continue the lockdown till the end of the current month so that those returning to Bihar from outside can be handled conveniently to contain the spread of coronavirus in the state.
Participating in the review meeting along with other Chief Ministers convened by the Prime Minister through video conferencing held during the day to discuss the safety measures adopted to contain the spread of coronavirus, Kumar favoured continuing the lockdown till May end so that he can easily identify the suspected infected migrants returning to Bihar in large number.
He informed the Prime Minister that some relaxations have been given in the lockdown in the state. Kumar during the videoconferencing said that coronavirus cases were increasing in Bihar and has crossed over 700 as people were returning from other parts of the country and foreign countries. The process is continued, he said adding that more than 1 lakh people have returned in between May 4 to May 10. On random testing of 1900 people 148 were found to be positive for coronavirus infection, he added. (UNI)
