Bihar reports 53 new cases of coronavirus, tally reaches to 749

Patna, May 12: With 53 new cases of coronavirus coming to light on Monday in Bihar, the total tally of COVID cases in the state has increased to 749. Principal Health Secretary Sanjay Kumar said here on Monday that maximum number of 11 cases were reported from Patna followed by Nawada and Sheikhpura reported 6 each, Khagaria 5, Begusarai 4, Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga 3 each, Banka, Bhagalpur, Gopalganj, Madhubani and Supaul 2 each and Nalanda, Samastipur , Purnia, Saharsa and Sitamarhi reported one case each. Of the 53 cases 52 were male and one female.

The female case was reported from Sitamarhi. He said that 8 policemen belonging to the Bihar Military Police(BMP) 14 in Khajpura area of the state capital also tested positive for coronavirus infection. The policemen who tested positive for the the infection are 24, 26, 33, 34, 36, 39, 45 and 50 years of age. Earlier, five policemen of BMP had tested positive for coronavirus. (UNI)
