Patna, May 10 : RLSP president and former Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha today alleged that Nitish Kumar government had utterly failed in handling the situation after the outbreak of Corona pandemic and imposed a ban on reporting of quarantine centres to hush up its failures.
Mr Kushwaha while leading statewide dharna organised by RLSP to observe black day for protesting failures of Nitish Kumar government in providing assistance to the poor, farmers and migrant labourers in the difficult phase of Corona pandemic, said that they had been left at the mercy of God. Even basic facilities like food and proper medical care were not being provided to migrant labourers and others lodged in various quarantine centres in Bihar, he lamented.
Mr Kushwaha, who sat on a two hour dharna at his residence in Patna, leading the statewide protest of the party, said that an amount of Rs 10,000 should be immediately transferred to bank accounts of the labourers stuck in various parts of the country in lockdown. Similarly, a second installment of Rs 1,000 should be transferred into bank accounts of poor and labourers living in Bihar, he added.
The RLSP president said the state government should prepare a concrete action plan to provide jobs to labourers. In this period of lockdown, labourers were on the verge of starvation and if no concrete step was taken to provide jobs to them, the situation would turn alarming, he pointed out. (UNI)
