Patna Apr 16 : With the mission to give respite to the labourers from the crisis of livelihood due to the lockdown, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has directed the concerned authorities to create job opportunities for the daily wage earners by taking up the work under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MANREGA) scheme.
While reviewing the situation due to the lockdown owing to the Corona pandemic and pace of the work for providing job opportunity to the daily wage earners Mr Kumar on Wednesday directed the Water Resources Department here to complete the work related to protecting from floods and erosion prevention work within the stipulated period.
The CM directed the engineering department, rural development department, road construction department, PHED, minor water irrigation department to resume the work under their departments and complete the projects within the fixed period.
In due course, he also asked to maintain social distancing and instructed the concerned authorities to provide masks and other safety measures to protect the workers from coronavirus infection.
Emphasising to the accord priority to the flood protection work Mr Kumar said that there is no ban in carrying out the agricultural activities during the lockdown period.
He also asked the authorities to monitor the relief camps functioning at various places in the lockdown.(UNI)
