Patna, Nov 24: Several Congress workers were injured when police resorted to baton charge to disperse party leaders and workers during Congress’s ‘Jan Vedana’ march against economic slowdown, unemployment and other issues here today.

The ‘Jan Vedana’ march was taken out from the state Congress headquarters Sadaquat Ashram. The march after passing through various roads in the state capital reached the prohibited area of Hartali Mor where it was stopped by police personnel provoking Congress workers to enter into heated arguments with cops. When Congress workers started making attempts to move forward, police first used water cannons to disperse party leaders and workers and then resorted to baton charge.

In the baton charge, state Congress president and MLC Madan Mohan Jha, Rajya Sabha MP Akhilesh Prasad Singh, state Congress working president Kaukab Quadri, MLC Prem Chandra Mishra and more than 24 workers were injured. The injured Congress leaders and workers were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. After melee at Hartali Mor for some time, police detained state Congress president Mr Jha, state party working president Mr Quadri, MLA Amita Bhushan and MLC Mr Mishra. (UNI)
