Major liquor haul in ‘dry’ Bihar, five nabbed

Patna, Aug 25 : Stepping up their drive against smuggling of liquor into ‘dry’ Bihar, police and excise authorities seized huge consignments of foreign liquor and arrested five peddlers in Kishanganj and Kaimur districts during the last 12 hours.

According to a report from Kishanganj, excise authorities seized 11 cartons of foreign liquor from a car and nabbed two peddlers near Maujawadi bridge under Kochadhaman police station area in the
district today.

Excise Superintendent Sattar Ansari said that 11 cartons of foreign liquor were seized from the dikkie of a car on specific intelligence input. He said two peddlers were arrested from the spot.

Mr Ansari said the nabbed peddlers had been identified as Shahid Alam, a native of Kazi Tola and Shah Alam, a native of Kashiwadi. The bootleggers were smuggling liquor from a shop in West Bengal when they were nabbed. He said one Mahendra Yadav had sent them to smuggle liquor in lieu of payment of Rs 5,000 to them adding that the car owner was being identified.(UNI)
