Patna, Aug 12 : Two dreaded Maoists surrendered with firearms before police here today.
State Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) Jitendra Kumar said that two extremists of banned CPI (Maoist) Amarnath Sahni and Rakesh Sahni surrendered before Inspector General of Police (Operation) Sushil M Khopde at his office. He said Amarnath Sahni and Rakesh Sahni are natives of Jandaha police station area in Vaishali district.
Mr Kumar said, Amarnath Sahni surrendered before police with 9 MM country made carbine (with magazine), 7.62 MM country pistol and 14 live cartridges while Rakesh Sahni surrendered before police with one 7.62 MM country pistol, one .315 country pistol and five live cartridges. He said Amarnath Sahni was former self proclaimed zonal commander of the ultra left outfit.
Mr Kumar said that Amarnath Sahni had been booked in 14 cases under various sections of IPC, Arms Act, Explosive Substances Act, Excise Act and others. Similarly, Rakesh Sahni was booked in six cases under various sections of IPC, Arms Act, Explosive Substances Act and had also been chargesheeted in three cases including Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act.
The ADG said that both the extremists surrendered before police under Bihar home department (special branch)`s Rehabilitation Policy for extremists of ultra left outfits surrendering before law enforcing authorities. He said cash would be given to both extremists surrendering before the police as per state government`s policy for their rehabilitation. (UNI)
