NIA chargesheet against five for smuggling firearms from Myanmar

Patna, Aug 3 : National Investigation Agency (NIA) probing the smuggling of sophisticated firearms and cartridges from Myanamar for supply to terrorists, filed a chargesheet against five accused in the case in the special NIA court.

The chargesheet has been filed against Suraj Prasad, a native of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, Warengan Polorangan and Kiliyarsan Kabo of Manipur, Tripurari Singh, a native of Jharkhand and Mukesh Singh of Danapur in the court of special judge Ajit Kumar Sinha under various sections of Indian Penal Code, Arms Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

The probe against four other accused, Ninkhan Sangtan of Manipur, Santosh Kumar of Bholpur district in Bihar, Mukesh Kumar Gupta of Sitamarhi district in Bihar and Bhikhan Ganju of Gujarat, who are already in jail, is still underway.

Police had seized barrels of various equipment, cartridges, launchers, grenades and other items under Vyasi police station area in Purnea district this year. An FIR was registered at Vyasi police station on February 7 this year in this connection. The case was handed over to NIA for investigation on February 26.(UNI)
