Patna, Jul 14 : Amid dissenting voice from Congress over announcement of RJD to contest next Bihar Assembly Elections under the leadership of Tejaswi Prasad Yadav who would also be its CM candidate for the state assembly polls scheduled to be held in October in 2020, Mr Upendra Kushwaha, president of RLSP also a constituent of Grand Alliance, today said it was purely an internal matter of RJD as no meeting of Grand Alliance was held so far to choose its leader and CM candidate for next assembly polls of the state.
Mr Kushwaha told media persons here that RJD had recently announced that the party would contest next Bihar assembly elections under the leadership of Tejaswi Prasad Yadav and also clarified that he would be its CM candidate for next state assembly electoral battle. RJD was definitely within its right to take such decisions and any party could have aspirations for its leader to become the Chief Minister, he noted.
"So far as the question of leader of Grand Alliance for next assembly elections is concerned, I have to make it clear that no meeting of the Alliance has been convened on the issue as yet", RLSP leader said adding that decision of Grand Alliance leader could be taken in its meeting only. When asked about his any reservation on announcement made by RJD for Mr Yadav, he said adding that he had nothing to say as it was purely an internal matter of the RJD.
As it is, Congress had taken strong exception to the fact that Mr Yadav had been announced as CM candidate of RJD for next assembly elections in the state, saying he could be CM candidate of RJD but not the Grand Alliance. Leader and CM candidate of Grand Alliance could be decided only in its meeting and no such meeting had been convened so far, Congress leaders had pointed out.
The RJD, Congress, RLSP, Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) and Vikasshil Insan Party (VIP) had contested as constituents of Grand Alliance in recently held Lok Sabha elections in Bihar. Congress had won only Kishanganj seat while all other parties drawn blank in last Lok Sabha elections held in April-May this year. Poor performance of Grand Alliance had led to internal bickerings and its several leaders started raising questions over the leadership of Tejaswi Prasad Yadav who had spearheaded the campaign in absence of RJD chief Lalu Prasad who is in jail in Ranchi after his conviction in cases of fodder scam.(UNI)
