Bhabhua, Jul 7 : Police seized huge consignments of foreign liquor and arrested seven peddlers from different police station areas in Kaimur district last night.
Police Superintendent Dilnawaz Ahmed said here that 11,000 bottles of foreign liquor were seized from closed rice mill at Shivpur under Bhabhua police station area on the basis of specific intelligence input. He said that a peddler Sudhir Chaudhary, native of Shivpur village under Durgawati police station area was arrested from the spot. The seized liquor was manufactured in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Mr Ahmed said that one Ajay Singh, a native of Baduri village under Durgawati police station area was involved in running his illegal liquor business from the closed rice mill, which he had taken on lease. He said that other bootleggers operating in the neighbouring localities were getting their liquor supplies from the rice mill.
Mr Ahmed said Sudhir Chaudhary during the interrogation revealed that the owner of rice mill Akhilesh Choubey was also absconding. A massive manhunt was on to nab him.
Police Superintendent said that 30 bottles of foreign liquor were seized from a grocery shop at Kurra village under Mohania police station area. He said the illegal liquor trader Anil Singh was arrested from the spot.
Similarly, police arrested two peddlers-Narendra Kharwar and Akash Kharwar with 10 litres of foreign liquor at Bairi village under Chand police station area.
SP said that three youths were arrested with 10 litres of country liquor near Hanuman Ghat under Bhagwanpur police station area. He said youths, natives of Haripur village were nabbed when they were carrying the consignment on a bike.(UNI)
