Patna, Jun 30 (UNI) RLSP president and former union minister Upendra Kushwaha today demanded resignation from Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar holding him responsible for the deaths of more than 150 children due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome(AES) in the state and threatened to launch "Nitish Hatao, Bhavishya Bachao" yatra from July 2 if Mr Kumar did not step down as CM.
Mr Kushwaha told media persons here that Chief Minister Mr Kumar was squarely to be blamed for the deaths of more than 150 children due to AES in Muzaffarpur and other districts of the state during the last few weeks. As head of the government, Mr Kumar had neither sensitivity for deaths of large number of children due to AES nor any step was taken by him to handle the situation for minimising casualties, he alleged.
"Mr Kumar should immediately resign as CM taking moral responsibility for the deaths of so many children otherwise our party will take out 'Nitish Hatao, Bhavishya Bachao' Yatra from July 2, beginning from Muzaffarpur which would reach Patna on July 6," RLSP leader said adding that a large number of party workers and relatives of victims would participate in proposed Yatra. Resignation of Health Minister Mangal Pandey was being sought for AES casualties which was an attempt of Nitish to find an escape route, he remarked.
Mr Kushwaha said that his party would make aware the people about failures of Nitish Kumar government in taking concrete steps to curb spreading of the disease. In the last 15 years of his regime, Mr Kumar never appeared sensitive and sincere to take concrete steps to save the children from falling victims of AES almost every year in Muzaffarpur and its surrounding districts of Bihar, he stated.
