Patna, Jun 1: After spurning a ‘symbolic’ presence for his party in Union cabinet, JD (U) president and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will expand his cabinet tomorrow in view of Assembly election due next year.
Kumar called on Governor Lalji Tandon at Raj Bhawan this afternoon and according to sources, informed him about his plan to expand his Cabinet.The expansion of will take place at 11.30 am tomorrow. Sources said four new members would be given berths.Speculation is rife that JD (U) MLC Ashok Chaudhary, who was state Congress president before joining the ruling party, MLA Lalan Paswan, who joined JD (U) recently by resigning from Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) and JD (U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar would be inducted into the Cabinet.
It is also speculated that former Minister Ranju Geeta might also find a place as the present Cabinet has no woman representative.Kumar could change departments of some ministers or drop a few.As it is, JD (U) leaders Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh and Dinesh Chandra Yadav and LJP leader Pashupati Kumar Paras resigned from after they were elected from their Munger, Madhepura and Hajipur seats respectively.
Similarly, another JD (U) leader Manju Verma had resigned from the post of social welfare minister after 50 illegal cartridges were found from her residence in Begusarai district during a CBI raid in connection with infamous Muzaffapur shelter home rape case. (UNI)
