Patna, May 14 : Vigilance sleuths caught a policeman red-handed when he was accepting a bribe of Rs one lakh from the complainant near a cinema hall here today.
Sources at the vigilance department said a trap under the leadership of a DSP rank officer Vimalendu Kumar Verma was laid on the cop Ajay Kumar posted as a reader in the office of a police superintendent (city-east) in the state capital when one Mustafa Hussain lodged a complaint against him.
Mr Hussain, a native of Shastrinagar police station area in the state capital had informed the vigilance department that Mr Kumar was demanding a bribe of Rs 1 lakh for authentication of two cases registered at Malsalami and Jakkanpur police stations.
The nabbed policeman would be produced before the special vigilance court after his interrogation. (UNI)
