DRI sleuths seize foreign cigarettes worth around Rs 5.25 crore in Bihar

Muzaffarpur, Mar 15: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) sleuths
with the assistance of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel seized foreign cigarettes worth nearly Rs 5.25 crore from a truck under Bochaha police station area in Muzaffarpur district late last evening.

Sources at DRI said that the consignment was seized on the basis of specific intelligence input. SSB jawans arrested the truck driver and on the basis of his confessional statement, another truck loaded with foreign cigarettes were seized from Motipur police station area.

Sources said the value of seized foreign cigarettes was around Rs 5.25 crore. The consignment was being smuggled to Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh from Guwahati when it was seized. Three peddlers who were arrested during the raid had been subjected to intensive interrogation to get vital clues from them. UNI
