Patna, Feb 9 : RLSP chief Upendra Kushwaha was today released on his assurance to co-operate in investigation after he along with 250 party workers surrendered before police in Kotwali police station in connection with a case of taking out procession of the party in restricted area near Dakbungalow crossing in Patna on February 02.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dr Rakesh Kumar said here that Mr Kushwaha along with 250 party workers had surrendered in connection with a case of taking out procession in restricted area.
As per guidelines of the Supreme Court, Mr Kushwaha and his party workers were released on their assurance to cooperate in investigation. The accused has to be released after surrender and notice being served in cases where maximum imprisonment was less than seven years, he said quoting guidelines of the Supreme Court.
"Case against Mr Kushwaha and others would continue in court under section 41 (1) of CrPC, having provision of maximum imprisonment of seven years", Dr Kumar said adding that notice regarding charges levelled against him had been served. Further action would continue as per provision of the law, he remarked. (UNI)
