Ranchi, Aug 24: The Jharkhand High Court today refused to further extend the provisional bail of jailed former Bihar chief minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and asked him to surrender by August 30.
The court of justice Apresh Kumar Singh reject the plea of the lawyers of Yadav who had demanded for further extension of the provisional bail for another three months on account of his poor health conditions. The court in its judgement said, Lalu Yadav can avail treatment at RIMS and if needed doctors of RIMS will speak to doctors at the higher centers.
Following the High Court’s order, Yadav will now have to surrender in the special CBI court. Lalu Yadav’s Lawyer Prabhat Kumar said that since the court has refused to further extend the provisional bail so Yadav will now be brought back from the Asian Heart Institute of Mumbai where he is undergoing treatment and will be admitted at RIMS.
The Jharkhand high court had awarded the provisional bail to Yadav for the first time on May 11 for a period of six weeks on medical grounds. On August 17, the High Court once again extended the provisional bail by 10 days and had fixed August 24 as the next date of the hearing in the case.
Yadav has been awarded imprisonment in different cases of the fodder scam including those related to Deoghar, Dumka and Chaibasa treasury by special CBI courts of Ranchi. (UNI)
