Guwahati, May 12 : The first passenger special train to North East from New Delhi will commence its journey today, with Railway authorities and state governments gearing up to receive and screen the inbound people. The train from New Delhi to Dibrugarh in eastern fringe of Assam is slated to depart from the national capital this afternoon, with stoppages only at Mariani, Dimapur, Lumding, Guwahati, Kokrajhar, New Jalpaiguri, Katihar Jn, Barauni Jn, Danapur, Pd. Dd Upadhyaya Jn, Prayagraj Jn, and Kanpur Central stations during its both way journeys. The train will return to New Delhi from Dibrugarh on May 14. A Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) spokesperson said here that provision for screening of all passengers boarding the train, both at the point of origin and any stoppage on the way, has been arranged by the Railways.
He said, “Thermal screening of the passengers will be done, wearing of marks is compulsory and all passengers must download and register at Arogya Setu app so that they can be monitored.” He informed that tickets between stoppages are not being issued, though tickets from point of origin to any stoppage or from any stoppage to destination are being given. “Once the passengers disembark, the state governments will take over. The passengers will have to follow the rules and regulations decided by the state government,” the spokesperson added.
The states that fall on the route have already been intimated of the time of arrival of the train, with some local administrations, like Kamrup (metro) under which Guwahati railway station falls, having arranged for institutional quarantine. Besides the train to Dibrugarh, the second train to the region will be from New Delhi to Agartala, in Tripura, with stoppages only at Badarpur Jn, Guwahati, Kokrajhar, New Jalpaiguri, Katihar Jn, Barauni Jn, Patliputra, Pd. Dd Upadhyaya Jn and Kanpur Central stations during its both way journey. The train will run from New Delhi on May 18 and return on May 20. These special trains are in addition to the Shramik Special Trains which are in operation from various locations of the country as per request of the respective state governments. (UNI)
