Guwahati, May 10: Three persons, all of whom had come in an ambulance from Mumbai, were tested positive for COVID 19 in Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) at Jorhat in eastern Assam on Saturday, pushing the positive tally to 62.
"Alert - 3 people, including an ambulance driver from Mumbai who drove the two, test +ve in Jorhat. Driver sent back to Mumbai. Two are at JMCH since their arrival in Jorhat," State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted. Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Roshni Korati further informed that as per protocol in the district, the ambulance was directed to the JMCH on arrival on, and the driver sent back after his swab sample was collected.
"The two women are in the JMCH since arrival and we are also tracking the driver to alert him," the DC said, adding that an inquiry was likely on how two healthy women hired an ambulance to reach Jorhat. "The two women are in good health and have not displayed any symptoms for COVID 19 also," she further said. The total number of positive cases in the state now stands at 62, of which 34 have recovered already, he added. (UNI)
