The samples sent for a recheck at RMRC at Lahowal, Dibrugarh, tested negative for COVID 19, state Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has informed.

The girl, who was visiting relatives at Pulibor in Jorhat, is admitted at Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH), along with her mother and elder sister as all three have displayed symptoms of Coronavirus infection.

The first test run on the samples of the girl at JMCH laboratory yesterday had tested positive for Coronavirus, creating a panic in the state as it could have been the first COVID-19 case in the state.

The girl and her family are being kept in isolation at JMCH, while all the people they came into contact with are also being monitored as a precautionary measure.

While Coronavirus infection is relatively common, detection of COVID-19 strain of the corona family has been the cause of concern leading to the present pandemic. (UNI)
