Temple town of Assam shuts down religious institutions

Guwahati, Mar 18 : All religious institutions of Hajo, a famous temple town near Guwahati in Assam, have been closed to prevent an outbreak of Coronavirus in the area. The authorities of the religious institutions of the town, which include temples and mosques, decided to close doors for pilgrims and visitors from today.

"We are concerned about the well being of the people, and don't want the Coronavirus to claim any victim here. Hence, we have decided to close the doors for visitors for now," authorities of Haigrib Madhab temple of the town said. Previously, the religious institutions of the town had installed facilities for washing of hands for all visitors.

Similar facilities for personal hygiene have been installed in most other religious institutions of the state, including at Kamakhya temple in Guwahati also. No confirm case of Coronavirus has been detected in the state so far. (UNI)
