Guwahati, Mar 18 : The Assam Government today banned entry of all visitors to the state secretariat as a preventive measure against any outbreak of Coronavirus.
The order to prevent any visitor to the secretariat was issued by Secretariat Administration Department today, barely 24 hours after announcing restricting number of visitors to 100 in the secretariat. In case of any urgent work, the people can contact the necessary officer over telephone or email, the order said.
Earlier in the day today, hundreds of visitors were seen queuing up to enter the secretariat despite the previous directive restricting number of visitors. State's deputy Health Minister Pijush Hazarika had stepped out of his office to urge the visitors to adhere to the restricted number of visitors, and also follow basic hygiene and rules for ensuring no spread of the pandemic. No confirmed case of Corona virus has been reported in the state yet, though the state government has been adopting all preventive measures. (UNI)
