Guwahati, Mar 9 : The National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), which had been waging an armed struggle for the rights of Bodo and other ethnic groups of Assam, today formally disbanded itself.

All three factions of the outlawed outfit, which had entered into a peace agreement with the government on January 27 last, resolved to disband itself at a meeting at Sonai designated camp of the group. The meeting also requested the government to remove the 'banned' status of the group. Two former 'presidents' and one former 'general secretary' signed the resolution.

The NDFB was formed in October, 1986, and was declared banned by the government in the 1990s. (UNI)
