No Coronavirus case in Assam yet

Guwahati, Mar 3 : While no positive case of Corona virus has been detected in Assam, the state government is taking all precautionary steps to prevent its outbreak. Responding to a starred question in the state Legislative Assembly here today, state Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said no case of Corona Virus has been detected in the state so far.

On the status of suspected persons who were transported from China, he informed that 55 suspected people who were transported from China were kept under observation in the state from January 15, 2020. Out of these 55 people, 46 have completed observation period of 28 days till February 24, 2020, and the remaining are under observation in home quarantine for incubation period.

“Till now, two persons have been admitted at isolation ward, Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, Guwahati, with mild symptoms. The samples have been collected and tested and the results were found to be negative,” the minister added. He further said that the government is undertaking all necessary precautions and preparations to prevent the outbreak of Coronavirus and to restrict the epidemic in case of positive cases, in line with advisories issued by the Government of India and in consultation with the local offices of World Health Organisation, UNICEF and other international organisations.
