Guwahati, Feb 11 : After successfully crowd-funding their last cinematic venture, local lad Kenny Basumatary and his team are back requesting funds for their latest movie ‘Local Utpaat’, slated for September release.
Addressing a press conference here today, Kenny and his team said that people can contribute any amount they wish and get various incentives like an autographed hard copy of a photo from the film, access to watch the film online, or a poster, or a special thank you video from a cast member chosen by the contributor.
The crowd-funding initiative is being done through the link https://www.wishberry.in/campaign/local-utpaat.
In a YouTube pitch video, writer-director Kenny said although the reviews of his previous film ‘Suspended Inspector Boro’ were very good, they couldn’t afford enough publicity and the film was unable to get enough viewers to recover the budget.
“I am really lucky to have such a supportive circle of cast, crew and family. Hopefully, this is the last time we’ll have to ask for help, because if ‘Local Utpaat’ recovers its budget, then we can recycle that same money to make subsequent films. I want to make films in different genres – romantic comedy, horror, murder mystery, Local Kung Fu 3 etc etc,” he said.
Kenny said the new film is ‘an out-and-out comedy that you can watch repeatedly with all your friends and family’.
So far over, 400 people have contributed a total of approximately Rd 4.3 lakh. If the target amount of Rs 10 lakh is not reached, however, all the money will be returned to the contributors.
The team had previously successfully crowd-funded Rs 8.9 lakh on wishberry.in for ‘Local Kung Fu 2’, with the team best known for the first installation of ‘Local Kung Fu’. (UNI)
