Protesters attack Assam CM’s residence in Dibrugarh

Guwahati, Dec 11: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal residence was attacked at Digbrgarh town on Wednesday evening and two railways stations in upper Assam were torched as anti CAB protests escalated in the state.

Despite the indefinite curfew in Guwahati since the evening, flash mobs were reported in several places till late night with police reported having to fire in the air and carry out baton to disperse the people.

The Chief Minister residence in Dibrugarh town was targeted by protesters who pelted stones at the house.

The security cover of the house have since been beefed up though he is away at his official residence in Guwahati. Two railway stations Chabua and Panitola were attacked by miscreants around 2130 hours leading to suspension of all train traffic between Guwahati and Dibrugarh, North Eastern Frontier spokesperson said. The control panel of Chabua Raliway station was burnt while the station building of Panitola was torched.
