Guwahati, May 4: Over 80 flights in North East region have been cancelled today as a result of the effect of cyclone 'Fani'.
Though all airports in NE are operational, due to bad weather conditions in other stations/ airports, the connecting flights have been cancelled by the airlines, an Airport Authority of India statement said here.
"The devastating effects of Cyclone Fani has disrupted flight operations at North Eastern Regional Airports," the statement said. As many as 59 flights have been cancelled in Guwahati airport, while four flights have been cancelled in Dibrugarh and two in Lilabari (Lakhimpur) airports of Assam.
Eight flights have been cancelled in Agartala airport, six in Imphal and two in Dimapur. The cyclonic storm 'Fani', which has now weakened to a depression, has reached North East region today, causing widespread rainfall in most parts of the region. (UNI)
