Itanagar, Jun 2 : Keeping his intentions straight and clear that welfare of people would come first in his Government, Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Sunday cleared the file related to maternity leave and child care leave benefits to female contingency and contractual staffs of Arunachal Government, immediately after assuming office.
“The first file Chief Minister Pema Khandu signed today morning after assuming office was of extending maternity leave and child care leave benefits to female contingency and contractual staffs of Government of Arunachal,” Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said in a release.
It may be mentioned that the maternity and child care leave was only given to regular government employees in Arunachal and the contingency and contractual staff were debarred of these benefits.
Considering genuineness of the case, the CM cleared the file under which the contingency and contractual female staff serving in various capacities in Government will now get 180 days of maternity benefit and 60 days of child care leave, it said.
This decision of the Khandu government will benefit approximately 20 thousand plus female contingency and contractual employees spread across the state in various departments, it stated.
Earlier on his arrival at Civil Secretariat here, Khandu was accorded a red carpet reception by Chief Secretary Satya Gopal, Commissioners and Secretaries and CMO staff.
The ITBP stationed at the Civil Secretariat gave him a splendid guard of honour with Rashtriya Salute. Mr Khandu was then accorded a traditional welcome at the CM’s office by CMO staff led by CM’s Secretary Sonam Chombay.
The monks chanted prayers and did the rituals while others greeted Mr Khandu with traditional scarfs and flowers.
Tsering Dolma, wife of Mr Khandu, accompanied him during the traditional ceremony. (UNI)
