Itanagar, May 29 : The National People’s Party (NPP), which won five seats in the recently concluded Assembly elections, has extended unconditional support to Pema Khandu-led BJP Government in the state.
“Arunachal Pradesh NPP has given unconditional support to Pema Khandu Government soon after the results were declared and this has been communicated to the Chief Minister through our party's national president Conrad K Sangma,” NPP Legislature Party leader Mutchu Mithu told reporters here on Wednesday.
The NPP, being one of the constituents of the BJP-led North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA), also congratulated Mr Khandu and his party on getting absolute majority in the polls.
To a query, Mithi, who retained the Roing seat, said, “We have no aspiration of getting any ministerial berth. We are giving unconditional support, based on that, the welfare measures should be undertaken by the Government what it has promised.”
The NPP, meanwhile, demanded a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the killing of party MLA from Khonsa West, Tirong Aboh, who was re-elected in recent polls, and 10 others in an ambush allegedly by Naga militants in Tirap district on May 21 last.
Mr Mithi said, in this regard, NPP national president had met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and raised several issues, including the recent assassination of Tirong Aboh.“He (Rajnath) gave a very optimistic response…whatever measures are to be taken will be taken,” he said. UNI
