Kala Academy to celebrate ‘Gomant Rangabhoomi Din’ on July 11

Panaji, Jul 8 : Kala Academy Goa will celebrate 'Gomant Rangabhoomi Din', the birth anniversary celebration of Lat Krishnambhatt Bandekar, a Goan saint poet and playwright, on July 11, 2019.

Well known theatre personality and renowned actress Vandana Gupte will be the chief guest while Goa Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude, who is also chairman of Kala Academy, will preside over the function. Addressing a press conference at Kala Academy in the city, State Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude said on the occasion, Krishnambhatt Bandkar Puraskar awards of Gomant Rangbhoomi Din for the year 2019-20 and Rangsanman Puraskar awards of World Theatre Day for the year 2018-19 would be presented to Goan theatre personalities who had rendered their yeomen contribution to Goan theatre stage and they will be felicitated on the occasion with the mementoes, citation, shawl and the award amount.

Krishnambhatt Bandkar Puraskar carries an amount of 15,000 each while Rangasaman Puraskar carries an amount of Rs 20,000 each. The recipients of Krishnabhat Bandekar Puraskar for the year 2019-20 includes Datta Naguesh Naik (Acting), Shambhu Bhiku Naik (Acting), Lala Surya Chari (Acting), Murari Mhamal alias Tao Padji (Make-up/Music), Mamta Ashok Nagvekar (Acting) and Subhash Babu Parob Yelekar (Direction).

The recipients of Rangsanman Puraskar for the year 2018-19 were Abhay Anant Jog (Direction), Leena Pednekar (Acting), Anand Prahalad Masur (Direction), Vinay Gaunekar (Acting), Keshav alias Rajoo Meghashyam Naik (Direction/Acting) and Kiran Somnath Naik (Stage Setting). Mr Gaude said the function would be followed by release of CD of Natyageets ''Sangeet Ahallyodhhar''- musical play written by Late Krishnambhatt Bandkar. (UNI)
