New Delhi, Mar 9 : Second Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) International Dance Festival began here on Friday.
Being held in association with Prasar Bharti , the ABU , which aims to introduce the unique diversities of the Asia Pacific region through dance as an international language, is being held from March 7-9..
Prasar Bharati, represented by All India Radio and Doordarshan, is a key Administrative member of ABU with Director General Doordarshan as the Vice President of ABU. 120 Dancers from 11 countries, including India, will present 20 Dance Items/ Forms in the festival this year. One of the most unique features of this festival is that it has the potential to reach half the population of the world that comes under the telecast shadow of the ABU member countries.
The event will be of Two and half hour duration which will be televised live on DD National from 6 PM onwards and also on all flagship channels of the ABU countries. Performers from Malaysia, Indonesia, Fiji, Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and India will be participating in the festival.
The Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), established in 1964, is a non-profit, non-government, professional association of broadcasters in the Asia Pacific region. It currently has over 272 members in 76 countries and regions, reaching a potential audience of about 3 billion people.
