AP govt asks TTD board to keep abeyance selling lands

Vijayawada, May 25 : The government of Andhra Pradesh here on Monday issued orders asking the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) board to keep its decision of selling Venkateswara temple lands in "abeyance". Principal Secretary Pravin Kumar issued orders directing the TTD to “re-examine” the issue in consultations with different stakeholders like religions elders, opinion makers, section of devotees to ascertain whether these properties can be used by TTD for construction of temples, dharma pracharam and other religious activities.

“Till the finalization of the matter, the proposed disposal of 50 properties by the TTD hereby kept abeyance”, the government order said. The government’s decision putting on hold the sale of Venkateswara temple lands has come at a time the issue was snowballing into major controversy as all opposition parties and religious heads and expressing resentment and planning to carry agitations.
