Chittoor, May 10 : With the rise of 30 COVID-19 cases in two days, the number of infected in the district rose to 112, district officials said on Sunday. According to them, Nagalapuram had five, V Kota nine, Amakuppam three, Vijayapuram one, Picchaturu two, Madanapalli one, BN Kandriga one, Sathyavedu two, Tirupati two, Sathyavedu one, Thamballapalle one, Varadaiahpalem one, Chittoor one, Tirupati rural one new positive cases. District Collector Narayana Bharat Gupta sought the public to adhere to social distancing norms and come out of the house only on purpose.
The sources said that few farmers from Tamil Nadu border areas of Chittoor district went to Koyambedu market with their produce to sell at and in return, apart from profits, they became the carries of the virus from there, due to which the surge in the positive cases has been increasing in the district causing for panic among public. Two days back the positive cases were 82, they added. (UNI)
