Vijayawada, May 6 : Andhra Pradesh continued to witness a rise in Coronavirus cases and deaths as two more patients died and 60 new positive cases have been reported during the last 24 hours. A health bulletin here on Wednesday said with the death of two more patients the total number of deaths has risen to 36 in the state. One patient died in Krishna district and another in Kurnool district. As many as 7,782 swab samples of persons were tested, of which, 60 people were diagnosed positive for COVID-19 from 9 am on Tuesday to 9 am this morning taking the total number of cases to 1,777.
Of the 60 new cases, 17 cases were reported in Kurnool district, 14 in Krishna district, 12 in Guntur district, 2 in Visakhapatnam district, one each in East Godavari and Kadapa districts. About 13 people belonging to Gujarat and Karnataka were diagnosed positive for Coronavirus in the state. Out of the total number of 1,777 positive cases, 533 cases were reported in Kurnool district, 363 in Guntur district, 300 in Krishna district, 92 in Nellore district, 90 in Kadapa,district, 82 in Chittoor district, 80 in Anantapur district, 61 in Prakasam district, 59 in West Godavari district, 46 in East Godavari district, 39 in Visakhapatnam and 5 in Srikakulam district.
Among the total positive cases, 27 persons belonging to Gujarat and Karnataka States were diagnosed positive for Coronavirus in the state. During the 24 hours, 140 patients had been discharged from different hospitals as they had completely recovered. So far 729 patients have recovered and they have been discharged from hospitals in the state and 1,012 patients are undergoing treatment for Coronavirus in hospitals, the bulletin said. Significantly, out of the total 1,777 cases, 1196 positive cases were reported in Kurnool, Guntur and Krishna districts alone. (UNI)
